Thank you to the Victoria November 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
Another great spudpatrol! The cold clear weather kept everyone moving as we doled out another 40lbs of hot spuds with all the fixings. As usual, spudpatrol could not happen without the support of volunteers. Huge thanks to Graeme, Sabrina, Tara, Erica, Jan, Leah and Kristina for their donations of toppings and supplies and for coming out and helping serve up the spuds. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by all!!!
Also extra special thanks to Graeme, Rachel , Karen and Graeme’s grade 6 classmates for making Christmas socks stuffed with goodies!!! These were extremely well-received by everyone and there were enough that nobody left without a warm pair of socks for Christmas, as well as new toothbrushes, candy canes and other goodies. Awesome!!!
PLEASE NOTE: If anyone is interested in coordinating the January 2, 2010 spudpatrol please contact me. I will be away on January 2nd and am not available for this event. Thanks kindly. ~
Steve

Some Previous Monthly SPUD Reports:
Thank you to the Victoria November 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
An awesome spud patrol thanks to many contributions from a record number of volunteers! Seven months running now in Victoria and, as usual, 40 lbs of hot spuds so nobody went hungry and everyone was very appreciative. Extra thanks to all who helped make this month’s spuds n duds the huge success that it was. Tara, Kristina, Judy and Bruce for donating supplies and coming out and helping to serve up the spuds; Marc for coming out and doing an amazing job helping folks find the perfect duds; Dave, Sue and Marjorie for donating supplies; my Mom and Dad for sourcing the potatoes; and Graeme who had to miss this month to support his soccer team, but was thinking of us today. All of your efforts are hugely appreciated!!!
Also special thanks to Jackson, Hayden, Sabrina and Finn who donated all of their leftover Halloween candy to go along with the spuds. The candy went fast and was a huge hit!!

Thank you to the Victoria October 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
A great spud patrol once again. Six months running now in Victoria…congratulations to all who have helped out! As usual, lots of hot spuds and nobody went hungry. The addition of duds this month was very well received by those we serve, in particular the new socks that everyone was so appreciative of! As always we received loads of appreciation for our efforts. Special thanks this week to Sue and Dave Patterson for taking the initiative to purchase all the toppings and supplies this month as well as donating clothing. Thanks also to Tara for donating clothing and coming out to help serve up spuds for a second time. And extra thanks to Laura and her seven year old daughter Sabrina (you have to check out the photos!) for cooking the potatoes, donating clothing and a table to help with the duds, as well as helping serve up the spuds. And special thanks to Graeme for coming out to help serve up the spuds for the 4th month in a row. All of your efforts are hugely appreciated!!!
Much thanks also to Jon & Carrie and Natalie for their generous clothing donations. And to Karen for contributing the umbrella stand to help keep us sheltered. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and help to make spuds and duds the great success that it is!

Thank you to the Victoria September 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
Another awesome spud patrol, served up 40 lbs of spuds in less than an hour. As usual, nobody went hungry and lots of people cam e back for seconds. And as always we received loads of appreciation for our efforts. Special thanks to Natalie and Shannon for taking the initiative to purchase all the toppings and supplies this month, and coming out and helping serve up the spuds. Also, extra special thanks to Graeme, my little brother, who came out again and helped serve up the spuds nice and hot! Much thanks also to my Mom and Dad for donating enough sour cream for all 40 lbs of spuds and to Karen for donating home-made salsa that was a big hit! Your contributions are greatly appreciated! If anyone is interested in volunteering next month there are lots of ways to get involved. Please call or email me a week in advance and I will coordinate the event. You could stop by and take some photos, make a donation toward supplies, stop by with some potato toppings and help dish them out, donate some supplies in advance, or however else you might feel like making a difference in the lives of people that can most use our assistance.

Thank you to the Victoria August 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
Another awesome spud patrol on a cool over cast day. It was the fastest sell out of spuds yet, 45 minutes. As usual, 40 lbs of jumbo spuds were served up and eaten. Nobody went hungry and lots of people came back for seconds. Seems we can never bring enough sour cream though. Once again we received loads of appreciation for our efforts. Huge thanks to Tara and Shannon for taking the initiative to purchase all the toppings and supplies this month, come out and help serve up the spuds and take pictures (and pictures they took!…a select few shown below) Also, extra special thanks to Graeme, my little brother, who insisted he come out and help serve up some spuds!
Much thanks to some behind the scene volunteers who helped make this spud patrol a great success - Ken and Toni for donating two tables that made serving the spuds so much easier than off the tailgate of my truck! And my mom and dad for donating enough tin foil for six months of spud patrols. Your contributions are greatly appreciated!
So if anyone is interested in volunteering next month there are lots of ways to get involved. Stop by and take some photos, make a donation toward supplies, stop by with some potato toppings and help dish them out, donate some supplies in advance, or however else you might feel like making a difference in the lives of people that can most use our assistance. Rainy season is not far off so if anyone has any ideas for a shelter or one to donate that would be awesome too! Please email or call me in advance if you would like to get involved on September 5th.

Thank you to the Victoria July 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
Great spud patrol on this fine sunny day. Best yet! All 40 lbs of jumbo spuds served up and eaten. Once again met lots of great people and received loads of appreciation for our efforts. Huge thanks to Laura for taking the initiative to purchase all the toppings and supplies this month, and come out and help serve up the spuds! The grated cheddar was a big hit. We were so busy serving up the spuds that we never had time to take photos this month.

Thank you to the Victoria June 2009 VOLUNTEERS!!
Took 40lbs of baked spuds to town and served them up to anyone and everyone who wanted one. Everybody was most appreciative and loved all the fixings on the spuds. Met lots of great people and shared some laughs. Some photos attached. The weather was nice and cool, which was a welcome change. Special thanks to Margaret for coming out and taking the photos.
